Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

This Pulled Pork was the best flavoured pulled pork I have made and it was also very tender! It was so good that my husband was sure it should be blogged.

We were asked to bring pulled pork to our family’s cottage, so that was why I was making it. I made two roasts, but ended up only needing one. However, this is not an issue because pulled pork freezes easy and can be made into many different kinds of leftovers. Not only can pork freeze easily, but it also can be made ahead of time and reheated. It does dry out when reheating so you may want to add liquid or sauce in that case.

For pulled pork you want to use a pork roast that has a good amount of fat on it. I would recommend a picnic shoulder or butt roast. Pulled pork is easy to make, but the length of cooking is key. I did these for 12 hours in the slow cooker on low and they came out falling off the bone! Also rubbing them with a spice rub the night before you start them is handy, but if you don’t get that done, it will still taste great if you just rub the spices on right before cooking.

All you need to do is mix your rub and rub it on the pork shoulder, add the Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and cider vinegar to the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the roast in the slow cooker and set it to low. Allow it to cook away all day, making your house smell like heavenly meat. Then have a late night pull party and pull the pork apart. The pork should be easy to pull, especially if the cut is fatty and cooked low and slow.

You can mix some bbq sauce with it or just put some on your sandwich or however you choose to eat it. I highly recommend eating it with coleslaw!

Pulled pork is a good meal to feed a crowd, easy to make ahead, and easy to freeze. I hope you enjoy this recipes as much as we did!

*Note: This pulled pork can very easily be gluten free. Just make sure to check your Worcestershire sauce (French’s brand is gf) and also your beef broth.
